What do you believe is the purpose of a college education? I believe the purpose of a college education is to further whatever knowledge you have gained throughout your past years in school. I believe a college education is different for everybody, giving those with different interests a chance to take those classes... pushing them in the direction of a career they'll will like in the outcome. Though college isn't mandatory, I feel as though you can get further with a degree from college, than without one.
What does it mean to be educated?
To be educated means to have knowledge. I feel as though education is kind of like a tell-tale... something that gets passed down to those who are interested and those who are not as much interested. Those who are interested, in whatever, absorb that information and continue to pass it down. Though, just like a tell-tale, once something gets passed down information can change or people interpret it differently. I believe education is what YOU make of it.
What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief?
My experiences come from, well my whole life. In grade school there were two teachers to every grade and I went through all 8 years with the same 40 kids, yet we were always seperated between two teachers every year. Each teacher taught in their own unique ways so some years I would be learning at a faster pace than my friends in the other class, and some years it would be reverse. This happened again throughout high school, just with more teachers per each class. This meaning, we all learned at different paces but we all got almost the same material. Some teachers just lectured while some interacted with the material which gave us a different aspect than others who were in the same class but with a different teacher. Just like a tell-tale, each teacher has their own subject/subjects to teach but there's always going to be multiple educators to pass this "knowledge" down, how one takes this "knowledge" is quite different based on how interested one is on the subject. I feel as though everybody has their own way of being educated, but like I have said... it is how and what YOU make of it.
